In case you have been under a rock since (Tues evening in the UK or Wed morning in Aus) or maybe in some foreign land so far far away from the Internet - let me be the first to tell you - the long awaited iPad IOS 4.2 is now available and it introduces at least 100 features.
- so now go away, find your iPad, plug it in to your computer and launch iTunes -
- if you don’t have an iPad but want one - then now you can go buy one
- if you don’t have an iPad and are not interested in all things mac - ‘pfft’ i say to you

Multitasking user interface to quickly move between apps, adjust screen brightness, control playback, lock screen-rotation, and manage print jobs
Support for audio apps to play in the background
VoIP apps can receive and maintain calls in the background or when device is asleep
Apps can monitor location and take action while running in the background
Alerts and messages can be pushed to apps using push and local notifications
Apps can complete tasks in the background
